This versatile stone comes in many colors, from creamy beiges to silver gray, from red to gold to brown. We sell travertine tiles, carved sinks, mosaics, borders, pencil liners, chair rails, baseboards, and much more...
From kitchen floors to backsplashes to bathrooms to fireplaces, travertine's many shapes and forms are used almost everywhere!
Because it's a calcium-based natural stone, travertine is not recommended for kitchen countertops where acidic foods and liquids can etch and erode it.
Be strategic when selecting travertine tiles for your surfaces: a honed and filled (or polished) travertine will show scratches more easily than a tumbled or unfilled travertine will. Meanwhile, the pits and holes in unfilled travertine could hide dust and dirt if not filled with grout when installed; a smooth honed and filled travertine will be easier to wipe down or sweep.
Travertine is a porous natural stone, and as such needs a sealer to protect it from staining. A cheap, low-quality sealer will wear off in as little as six months and can yellow natural stone, so we recommend investing in a high-quality sealer that can last up to 15 years!
You have two choices of 15-year sealers: a water-based sealer that won't change the appearance of your travertine, and a solvent-based sealer that will enhance and deepen the colors of your stone.

Travertine is a calcium-based sedimentary stone, so you have to use non-acidic cleaners. Cleaning products with lemon juice or vinegar bases (such as Simple Green), or lime-eroding cleaners like Scrubbing Bubbles and Lime-Away will severely damage travertine.
Use a neutral, soapy cleaner or a stone-specific cleaner such as AquaKleen to keep your stone in pristine shape.
As long as you have a good stone cleaner and a long-lasting sealer, your travertine will stay beautiful for a long time.
