The 9x9" metal base for the Claddy corner shelf. Choose Polished Chrome, Brushed Nickel, or Oil Rubbed Bronze.
Pre-sloped to prevent standing water. Solid metal underside. Includes wall-mounting panel.
One of 2 parts: don't forget the Claddy glass shelf, available in 12 colors.
Fill tray with thinset, flatten with notch trowel.
Back-butter glass shelf with a 1/4x1/4" notched trowel.
Place glass in tray.
Embed the mounting plate into the thinset on your wall.
Tile over the plate while the thinset is still wet.
Cut tile to fit around the shelf.
When thinset is dry, use grout or caulking to fill the space between the tile and the shelf. Use care when grouting, as sanded grout will scratch the glass.
Waterproofing a tub surround or shower is one of the most important aspects of a bathroom remodel. However, most storage or accessibility solutions for tubs and showers require poking holes through the waterproofing to anchor your shelf, bench, or grab bar to wall studs. Those screw holes create a direct passage for water to get into the wall cavity, causing issues such as mildew and rot.
TileWare products attach to (not through) your wallboards. No leaks, no water damage!
A lot of people ask me how strong these shelves can be if they're not screwed into the wall studs. The answer: they're incredibly strong!
Check out this video of two heavy thinset pallets (each one weighs appx. 1 ton) being set on four TileWare Foot Props.
For reference, each pallet has about 50 bags of thinset, each one weighing 50lbs. That's 5000lbs of weight distributed on 4 little foot props, or about 1250lbs per foot prop.
What holds them in place? A little thinset and two 6x6 basic ceramic tiles.
